Welcome to The Juniper Clinic. We look forward to working with you.
Gillian Sleeman, MA, LMFT
Therapist/Owner
I received my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with a focus in Marriage and Family Therapy from Lewis & Clark College in 2011.
Prior to establishing my own practice, I worked in a number of settings including residential, intensive outpatient and day treatment levels of care. I have spent the last six years treating anxiety related disorders in an outpatient setting while also pursuing clinical trainings with a focus in behavioral therapies. I am a member of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) and the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA).
I believe that the therapeutic relationship is paramount to successful therapeutic outcomes. My style of therapy is open, warm and collaborative. I often say to my clients, that those who seek therapy for anxiety are the bravest clients I know, because therapy is the process of facing your fears and being willing to confront discomfort. It’s important to me that we work together to establish trust so that this process can feel safe and can ultimately be effective.
When I am not working with clients, I love spending time with family and friends enjoying the great Pacific Northwest. I live here in the Portland area with my husband, our two young daughters and our dog, Juniper. We enjoy camping, skiing, traveling and cooking together.

Therapist
I received a Master of Arts degree in Community Counseling from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 2008. My professional experience includes providing therapeutic services in a private practice setting as well as serving as an executive functioning coach. I have also been a college instructor teaching psychology courses for a number of years.
I believe that mental health is not black and white. It is a fluid process. Achieving optimal wellness requires engagement and a desire to expand one’s outlook to include new perspectives and possibilities. To that end, I understand the most effective therapists are those who invest in their clients and make an effort to understand each client’s unique culture, needs, strengths, challenges, and goals. Providing empathy, hope and support are crucial to a successful client/therapist relationship. When clients have the right therapeutic tools and a trusting therapeutic relationship, including space that is safe and collaborative, growth and healing are both exciting and possible.
